Hazmat Training Comes to Cary

Press Release Summary: May 12, 2008 - When workers handle hazardous waste and/or
hazardous materials, training is not just a good idea, it's the law. According to
the EPA, workers who handle hazardous waste must be trained annually. Individuals
who are expected to stop, contain, and clean up releases of hazardous materials are
required to have 8 hours of annual refresher training. For those who must
implement the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's
(OSHA) regulations in the workplace, a two day course is offered.

OSHA Compliance Course will be offered on June 3 and 4, 2008

Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response 8-Hr. Refresher Course will be
held on June 5, 2008.

Untrained workers are frequently the cause of environmental accidents and penalties.
In 2006 alone, NC DENR fined North Carolina companies more than $825,000 for the
mismanagement of hazardous waste.1
